live albums
i can't help myself, i know they get slagged off but i've always loved them. either a cheap double album introduction into the studio albums or a longed for live experience when i was too young or skint to go to the concerts.

And a special mention to the Led Zeppelin double DVD. Not a live album as such but is fantastic. How the West Was Won was supposed to be some sort of companion live album but was somewhat overshadowed by the DVD.

Re: live albums
UFO did a pretty good live (double) album - Strangers in the Night.

Not so sure on BJH Live - I thought the later Live Tapes a lot better.

Difficult to top Made In Japan though.

I quite like the Stones flavour of the Unplugged genre - Stripped (cutting out the non-songs shit), and as for Unplugged proper, Neil Young, Eric Clapton & Bob Dylan are very listen-able. I'd have added Dylan's "At Budokan", but the production/mastering is shit.

I like Yes - but all of their live stuff seems very flat to me (even the remastered stuff) - same for ELP's "Welcome back my Friends". Genesis with their "The Longs" album is pretty good, though.

Many would dispute the Live and Dangerous is a live album at all. It is very good, though.
